"THE 10-WEEK PROJECT CONTEST!" There are roughly 10 weeks between the 2008 election and the swearing in of the new President. This contest will consist of developing a 10 week plan for your fellow citizens to prepare for the worst. Consider seven categories: Rifle, ammunition, food, medical supplies, transportation, field gear, and shelter. You will compile this into a plan and e-mail it to us. Package your plan for varies levels of available funds, and consider ways that you can effectively convince non-militia types to implement this plan.
Construct your submission as follows:
One opening paragraph or page, laying out the overall scope and purpose of your piece. You may want to address why you are writing this.
Seven paragraphs, pages or sections detailing each of the following categories: Rifle, ammunition, food, medical supplies, transportation, field gear, and shelter. You should include suggestions for various levels of available funds. You may add an eighth section suggesting other activities which may help preserve and protect individual rights, such as joining a statewide or national gun rights organization, or obtaining a CCW permit.
Closing paragraph, page or section summarizing and re-enforcing your overall arguments.
E-mail your entry to webmaster@michiganmilitia.com no later than October 1st, 2008.
Submissions will be judged according to clarity, effectiveness of persuasion, and completeness. Grammar and spelling will also be considered.
Staff members will be judging entries as soon as we receive them. The latest we will accept any entries is October the 1st, 2008. The winner will be announced at the public meeting Wednesday, November the 5th, which is the day after the elections.
Staff members Weapon M and Thumper are NOT eligible to win, though we may submit writings on this subject, anyway.
By submitting an entry, you agree to having it posted online, having your submissions printed in the newsletter "Militia", and having it printed and distributed as an individual handout. You may request that your name remain on your submission, or a handle/codename/call sign, or nothing at all.
Winner will receive at least a militia t-shirt, and we are considering other prizes as well. Winner will also have his/her entry posted on the www.michiganmilitia.com web page, from which he or she will have accolades and glory heaped upon themselves.
You have plenty of time to think, write, and edit. If this turns out well, we may have an annual persuasive writing contest of some sort.
This gives everyone a chance to use your most effective weapon of all, your mind.
Happy writing!
