Berserk Religious Fanatics of All Flavors:

   Does that title grab your attention? Good. Does it apply to you? Better. If you feel that you are actually a berserk religious fanatic, maybe you should go pray or meditate or something, and click away. This might upset you.

   I am not aiming this at any particular religion or sect or cult or denomination. I am aiming it at those feverishly deluded into thinking that they are The Chosen Bringers of Holy Truth or whatever. I am discussing (disgusting?) people who feel the urge to proclaim loudly throughout the land and to all the inhabitants thereof, that THEIR way is The One True Right Way, and that people who do not embrace said Proper, Good and Just pathway should be killed.

    That's right, Achmed, Jebediah, or Billy-Bob, I am talking to YOU. 

    People involved in, participating in, having something to do with, the idea of a free armed citizenry should tend to NOT promulgate (that's 'spread', there, Junior), the idea of forcibly converting others to your narrow belief system, not even if it DOES provide the only true good pathway to eternal righteousness or blah blah blah.

   Now, the idea of Islamic or even Balsamic fundamentalists trying to forcibly convert or kill you and yours is pretty damn upsetting, right? Not something that you or I would tolerate coming over to our shores, right? This is America, damn it. No Taliban allowed, here, right?

    But a truly free, thinking people would object to ANY type of forcible conversions, of anyone, to any religion, for any reason. Forced conversions are not conversions. The idea that anyone who doesn't believe that same way as you should be forced to do so or be killed is sick, twisted, and barbaric, and will be met with as much force and violence as necessary. That's not just for the benefit of our Islamic friends and neighbors, either. This applies to Joe-Bob's Baptist Church-O-Rama or Saint Oglethorpe's Most Holy Divine Apostolic Sepulchre O-Goodness, too. No one has the right, ever, to FORCE their beliefs upon anyone else. No one.

    Besides, and this has really, really stuck in my craw for some time, God (Allah, Buddha, Ted The Giant Squid) doesn't need YOU to spread His word. He's GOD. That means He has MORE POWERS than you, and doesn't need YOU to convince me of His righteousness. Otherwise, He isn't really God at all, He's just your excuse to inflict your will upon others, and that is just plain wrong, and such behavior should be resisted with force. And I bet (not that I would claim to be intimately familiar with The Mind of The Most Holy, unlike some of our blessed brethren) that any decent God worth a damn wouldn't WANT you to have to threaten people to worship Him. Any God that needs you to wave an AK47 in somebody's face just isn't God at all. 

    So those of you who feel the need to spread and enforce some Divine Word at the end of a rifle barrel, give it up. This applies across the board, to everyone. If you cannot convince someone of the joys and benefits of your system of beliefs without resorting to barbaric acts and threats, then maybe you need a new system.

    That's just my not so divinely inspired opinion on this subject, and you may not agree, and that's cool. I won't threaten to kill you for disagreeing with me, not like some fanatic would. Because I am cool like that.
