ARE YOU PEOPLE RACISTS?
No,.. Everyone is welcome, regardless of race, creed, color, tint, or hue, religion (or a lack thereof), political affiliation (or lack thereof), provided you do not wish to bring harm to our country or people. We have a number of members who are of multi-racial families and a variety of faiths, as is the make up of our communities, state, and nation.
Are you part of the National Guard or the Military?
No,.. We are the unorganized militia under 10 USC section 311 – Militia; composition and classes. We are a public militia with annual elections for the position of Unit Coordinator, WE ARE NOT MILITARY, nor do we pretend to be. 50% of our members are veterans, 50% of those have combat experience, but in the end, all we are is private citizens – nothing more, nothing less. As “individual” citizens who have the right to “keep and bear arms” we fund our own equipment and arms, we peacefully assemble with other like-minded “individual” citizens who do the same.
I see people wearing and carrying guns, is that legal?
Yes,.. You can “Openly Carry” a Handgun. Any-one 18 years old or older, law abiding citizens of the State of Michigan who owns a legally registered handgun may openly carry (in a holster) said firearm in all places not explicitly exempt by law with or without a CPL. Private property rules over-ride state law in regards to firearm possession. A Rifle too can be openly carried slung over your shoulder.
Who Exactly Are These People?
We are fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, we are grandparents and friends, neighbors and co-workers, business owners and tax payers, in other words….. WE ARE YOU.
Are You People Anti-Government?
No,.. We have no interest in seeing our Constitutional Limited Republic fail. We as American Citizens have concerns with corruption and abuses in our government, local, state and national, but we do not want the basic structure of government to fail. We believe in the voting booth and civil society and fully participate in both.
Are There Women In The Militia?
Yes,.. There is no gender barrier of any kind in the militia, many of our family members are involved, male and female. We have a family friendly environment at meetings as well as training events. Many times our children and grandchildren attend and participate in our Junior Militia Corps where they learn outdoor skills and safety.
The News Always Calls Militias “Hate Groups”,.. Are You?
No,.. We have actually enjoyed positive media over the years, but many in the media approach this subject with preconceived ideas and notions that we are closed-minded simpletons that fear a changing demographic and wish to hinter progress. The truth be told, the closed-mindedness lies with corporate media objectives of directing the social agendas. We are more open and accepting than you may imagine, as Voltaire said, “I may not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.” “To protect the right of the INDIVIDUAL to live free and for themselves” has always been the basis of our Constitution and national spirit.
The News Always Calls Militias “Hate Groups”,.. Are You?
No,.. We as taxpayers, citizens and residents of the communities in which we live, expect a level of professional and responsible service from our elected public officials who oversee and manage our local, state and national government.
We expect these elected officials to. within budget, hire responsible, qualified and professional for all areas of Public Services. We also expect these elected officials to provide support, both material and legal, to these personnel and departments within budgetary restraints.
However, this is not always the case. Public Safety Departments are frequently under-funded or under-staffed. Equipment and material needs are not met, and sometimes unqualified and irresponsible people are put in positions and given responsibilities they cannot fulfill. Yet these departments still expect their personnel to meet the often rigorous demands of public service, up to and including, placing their lives at risk. Here’s a quote that explains what many know.
Here’s a quote that explains what many know.
We Are The Un-Willing,
Led By The Un-Qualified,
To Do The Un-Necessary
For the Un-Grateful
– John Corry, a Vietnam Veteran
Many times, we are sure that you feel this quote describes Standard Operation Procedures for your workplace, and sometimes, sadly, it is. Even so, you are expected to fulfill your basic responsibilities to the community. However, there are times that go far beyond what the job called for, and though you will certainly do your best, you may be overwhelmed by some extreme, unexpected situations that may arise. In these situations, have you let the public down?… NO, NOT AT ALL..
IT IS TIMES LIKE THESE THAT THE PUBLIC HAS LET YOU DOWN and you require their assistance.
As members of the public in general, we expect services rendered for the tax dollars we pay, and so do you. We go to work everyday to earn money to maintain or improve our standard of living, and so do you. Part of that standard of living is maintained with the tax dollars we pay to sustain community government and public service that keep us safe from crime, fires, and disasters or emergencies. This allows us to work without worry about our families and homes so that we can continue to maintain and improve our economy and our standard of living.
However, when unexpected situations occur that put an overwhelming strain on these public services and personnel, tax dollars alone cannot always resolve the immediate matter at hand. These events require public assistance and support for the professionals that we, the community, have placed in harm’s way. It is OUR CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY to assist our Public Service professionals in any way we can, after all:
WE PUT THEM THERE!
Some examples of situations where the public MUST provide assistance: Disaster, Crime, Invasion, Terrorism, Tyranny
DISASTERS, whether natural or man-made, can overwhelm emergency services. A prepared public can assist by not being a burden. By providing basic first aid, or helping to transport injured to area hospitals and clinics. A prepared citizenry can also help by assisting neighbors with food, water or shelter, and by helping to maintain security and order.
CRIME, repeatedly occurs when people fail to become involved, or when they refuse to report what the know, or when they fail to take steps necessary to defend their lives, their homes, or their property. Simply calling the local police when we are aware of crime or suspicious activity can be a big help.
INVASION, of a Community by gangs, rioters, or unlawful mobs will put an overwhelming strain on every public safety department. In such cases, prepared citizens can assist you with some of the less critical aspects of dealing with this, such as traffic control, crowd control, observing and reporting, rolling out fire hoses, communication and other areas of support. Plus, it will be a big morale boost to know that the community is actively on your side.
TERRORISM, is an unfortunate reality of the world today. Its true power is when people focus is on it and live in fear, instead of conducting our daily lives. We should all enjoy the best of times today, but always prepare for the worst of times, as well. Citizens who can defend themselves, and maintain security in their neighborhood are less likely to require your immediate assistance, leaving you free to help someone with a greater need.
TYRANNY, of corruption from elected and appointed officials will not only oppress the general citizenry, but also oppress and mistreat public employees, as well. In times like these, everyone needs to act together in order to restore a properly functioning community and government. Trust and support between the citizens and our public servants in critical in times of tyranny. The citizenry should never have to fear you, and you should never be afraid of the citizenry, because when hard time arrive, we will need each other.
Why Should I Join A Militia?…
The arena of government has “changed” over time and has turned a deaf ear to the “individual” citizens concerns and has elevated the “collective” special interest groups above them. This is what has created the need for “individual” citizens to group with other like-minded citizens to form Constitution, Libertarian, and Tea Party’s over the years. Political pressure and intimidation has been brought down on these groups over the years and is only now coming to light in the public’s eye, but in the past it was blown off as “conspiracies”. This, along with the events at Waco and Ruby Ridge, helped to create the militia movement as it exists today, and the only reason these voices are even given any attention is because it comes from well armed “individual” citizens.
As you may or may not know, the state militia is the National Guard, developed with the Dick Act to “standardize” equipment and command of these individual state militias and “Federalize” then in time of national defense. This made sense after the “cluster-f**k” that was the Spanish-American War.
Under Michigan’s “Open Carry Laws” we hold Monthly Public Meetings and Training’s with our personal arms and have been doing so for the past 20 years. We enjoy the best of times, but prepar for the worst of times, such as: Disasters, Crime, Invasion, Terrorism, Tyranny.
What Is Your Commitment?…
“The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands in NOW deserves the love and thanks of man and woman” – Thomas Paine’s “The Crisis“
For the past 21 years this topic has been discussed many times and the answer is always the commitment of the individual to their own Freedom and Liberty. As a volunteer, individuals, may come and go as they please, and to pressure an individual to commit would be no better than the tyrant’s pressure to submit,… That has been the history of this world except for the last 237 years.
The crisis is upon us again and the goal is the same, the destruction of Liberty and replacing it with a soft tyranny. A soft tyranny that will keep those who comply “fat and happy” so long as they are willing to give up part of their Freedom and Liberty for the security of a prisoner being maintained with a benevolent master. These things I need not discuss further, because just by being here, you already know.
The commitment you “the volunteer citizen” have already made, but as in “The Crisis” it is the participation that is needed today. As a volunteer, you need to know who will stand with you, what are their strengths and weaknesses as well as your own. You need to ask yourself “what can you contribute in knowledge and skills”, that can not be done in solitude alone, but in the company of those who will be standing by your side in that time of greatest need.
With the established 12 Field Training Exercises (FTX’s) each year, and 6 of them being special training exercises, the availability to participate, train, interact, and get to know your fellow volunteer citizens requires only you. To be able to attend all these FTX’s would be to your advantage, but family, work and life in general rarely complies. As a commitment to yourself and to those who side you will be standing next to, at a minimum commit to 1 FTX every 3 months or 4 FTX’s per year. To do more would be to your advantage, but to do less would be to those who would stand by your side… a disadvantage and even a liability.
The choice of the level of commitment is yours, and yours alone.
Qualify as a level 1 & 2 Rifleman – the absolute minimum level of preparedness necessary to be an active line member as well as vote in SMVM activities. We understand that pursuing further skills and acquiring additional equipment, one’s ability to fight and survive most any situation will be greatly enhanced. We will now count you as “able to instruct others in basic individual tactical readiness”.
